10-point checklist
1 Front wing seams and corners prone to corrosion.
2 Trapped moisture can cause door skins to rot from inside.
3 Inner wheelarches another soft spot. Rear wings are now unobtainable, fronts getting rare.
4 Boot lids rust at base.
5 Petrol tank bolts also rust alarmingly. Plastic tank can fall out.
6 Brazilian-made 1050cc engines (from Fiat 127) bulletproof but can sound tappety with age.
7 FIRE unit renowned for its reliability so shouldn't pose any problems.
8 Electrical problems commonplace. Window motors prone to failing.
9 Dashboard warning lights have a mind of their own giving disco effect on start-up. Came like that from the factory so don't panic.
10 Alcantara trim fades badly. Cloth seat squabs prone to fraying.
