20:14pm: Well it looks like we're getting there now, but looks can be deceiving. All the electrics and fuel lines are all hooked up - look at them lovely braided hoses - but there is still a long way to go before the front of the car can be put back on and the car driven home. It was about now that I noticed that we had forgotten to put the dipstick tube in place! Anyone who knows the Y10 Turbo will know that the tube goes through a hole in the plate between the carb and its manifold, and then screws into the block. Two little problems, there is a tag on the side of the tube at the top which screws to the manifold to steady it (had to be lopped off as you cannot turn the tube with it present) and you cannot access the bottom of the tube with your spanner too easily once the engine is back in the car. So, what should have taken 2 minutes if we had remembered to do it at the right moment, dragged out to more like an hour or so. |
