Unusually for a Lancia, the ride is not so good. Certain limitations must be expected with a wheelbase of only 85 inches (four shorter than a Metro) but even so, the Y10 Turbo rides harshly, and bobs and pitches with a surprising lack of composure.

Suspension is independent at the front using MacPherson struts and coil springs, but to the rear Lancia introduced the 'Omega' system, so-called because of its shape. A central bush is employed to restrict lateral movement of the wheels, yet at the same time is flexible longitudinally in the interests of a pliant ride. With its sharply angled dampers and two semi-trailing arms, the design is so compact that it does not interfere with cabin or boot space - already precious enough with the small size of the car.

The upright position of the wheels is rigidly maintained so minimising self-steer and maximising the tyre's contact patch and thus grip.
