This picture of a Lancia Y10 arrived in the email (thanks, Melo) but with no indication of where it came from, what it is, any other views or info at all. I love the way the bonnet has been stretched to cover the extended front wings. Anyone out there with any further information on this car or any other Y10s involved in motorsport of any kind? Email me at the usual address with details.
Of the things I have noticed are that the car appears to be badged 'Lancia' rather than 'Autobianchi' which would suggest it is somewhere other than in Italy, although the team name on the sunstrip might suggest otherwise. As for the driver, surely not Ayrton Senna, although the crash helmet looks like his distinctive design.
Latest news from Melo is that it's mid-engined and rear wheel drive, just like a Renault 5 Turbo 2. Been thinking of building one of those for a while, got a nice solid shell stashed safely in my garage ready - just need to find the funds, gonna be another year or two before that one gets built.
Just when I thought that was it - the pictures below arrived from Stefano showing this bizarre 'slalom' Y10. He believes it has a Suzuki 1100 motorbike engine, probably weighs next to nothing and goes like.... Lovely!
