In April 1978, the 'limited edition' Lido was announced. This was mechanically the same as the early 1300cc cars, but all were finished in metallic black paint with a silver coachline, chrome corner bumpers replacing the previous black ones and off-white alcantara (a suede-like material) interior. The dashboard design was changed to something a little less stylised - indeed this dash design was carried over to the forthcoming 1500cc model.

The price for the Lido has risen to £4275. To help ease the pain, detail changes were carried out that included an electric carburettor fan (to aid hot starting which had been a problem).

The Lido remained current for a year at which time the X1/9's only major evolution took place. Enter the 1500.
